Tsuchiyu Kokeshi Dolls

Tsuchiyu Kokeshi dolls from Tsuchiyu Onsen，said to be the birthplace of the three major kokeshi dolls in Tohoku. The kokeshi has an adorable expression with long，slit eyes called ”whale eyes，” a round nose，and a small mouth. The head is inserted into the body using the heat generated by the rotation of the potter's wheel，so when the head is turned，the kokeshi makes an adorable squeaking sound.
